National Park Week

The week of festivities officially begins with an entrance fee-free day, when all national parks are free of charge on April 20th, 2024. The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area is free year-round, although some partner parks, museums and historical sites within the MNRRA boundaries require parking passes or charge admission fees. Spend National Park Week learning about all six national park sites in Minnesota and start planning your next adventures.

The Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam will open to the public for the 2023 summer season from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Hours are below:

  • Monday - Thursday: 11 - 4 PM (Ranger led tours at 2 PM)

  • Saturday - Sunday (and Monday Holidays) 10 AM - 4 PM (Ranger led tours at 11 AM and 2 PM)

Paddle your canoe, kayak, or stand up paddleboard on the Mississippi River!. Join the 3rd annual Mississippi River Paddle Weekend is June 7-9, 2024.

The Paddle Weekend is presented by 1mississippi.org and includes an event for every skill level: five canoe and kayak races and a recreational tour. The tours and races, from 5 to 150 miles, are for everyone from beginners to experienced paddlers.
